Let’s Move Forward!

Having been introduced to Alpha Phi Alpha through initiation into Mu Upsilon Chapter (Frostburg State University) and matured in Delta Lambda Chapter – the oldest alumni chapter residing within the Alpha Phi Alpha’s Eastern Region – it is with extreme humility with which THANK YOU is expressed on behalf of the entire AlphaForward team; THANK YOU.

In “The History of Alpha Phi Alpha, A Development in College Life,” Bro. C. W. Harris reveals “…Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity was not simply a ‘good time’ group of college men. It was a brotherhood, existing for the improvement of its members.” So is the focus of the platform to move AlphaForward. The 81st Annual Eastern Region Convention held in Buffalo, NY has yielded great possibilities for us all. We are elated Brothers have agreed to be a part of an effort to move our organization to the next level by “shaping our future on the basis of our past” – getting back to the basics.

To that end we have hit the ground running. A transition team has been assembled to ensure a seamless transition from a “Broader Bond of Brotherhood” to “AlphaForward.” The members of this team are:

  • Diallo Rabain (IAAC)
  • Steven King, Jr (ONECA)
  • R. Emanuel Scott (NYACOA)
  • Jonathan White (NJAAPAC)
  • Rab Highsmith (PAAC)
  • Dontae Ryan (MAAC)
  • Maurice Hawkins (VACAPAF)
  • Chris Washington (VACAPAF)

The team has been asked to complete two primary goals:

  1. recommend the best leadership structure (to include committees) to administrate the region; and
  2. recommend Brothers for the respective leadership posts.

There have been a number of Brothers expressing interest in being a part of the assembling leadership team. To ensure all interests are given proper consideration, please forward your interest (and resume) to “transition @ AlphaEast.com” and ALL of the Brothers above will receive your information. (NOTE: There is no need to cc: any of them on the email.)

The AlphaForward platform is about bringing the best out of our Brotherhood by focusing on the core of our mission statement – Developing Leaders, Promoting Brotherhood and Academic Excellence, and Providing Service & Advocacy to our Communities.

Again, thank you for the honor to serve as a servant-leader.

Fraternal Regards,

Bro. R. Anthony Mills

  • Congrats to Brother Mills! I’d like to know if someone could make it easier to find out how ot serve on his staff or in a leadership role in the eastern region? I’m anticipating the annoucement of these opportunities, so when it is announced, I would appreciate a clear method to apply. I can see progress in the east, on the horizon! Loving it, and ready to serve the Brotherhood.

    Sincerely,
    Bro. Hill, SAL
